Tibial Plateau Plating Failed Fixation

초록

Posterior shearing tibial plateau injuries represent unique fractures requiring meticulous evaluation and planning. Initial assessment must exclude neurovascular deficit followed by temporary stabilisation with an external fixator as indicated for resuscitation of the surrounding soft tissues and acquisition of computed tomography scan for a detailed evaluation of the fracture pattern and appropriate preoperative planning. Optimum fixation would support the early range of motion of the knee joint for preservation of cartilage and reducing the risk of joint stiffness. Herein we present a case that failed following reconstruction and discuss the aetiology of failure and the subsequent treatment that was performed successfully. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
