지역 일간지 사설에 나타난 지방소멸 담론 비판적 연구

초록

This study started with a sense of problem that media reports related to 'local extinction' that spread in Korean society excessively exaggerated the phenomenon of regional decline, making many people as well as local people feel that population decline is a scary phenomenon. For the study, we looked at how social discourse can be analyzed for the characteristics of local extinction discourse in local daily newspapers. Focusing on the local extinction discourse itself covered by the local media, the characteristics and implications of local extinction reports were revealed. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that the local extinction discourse contained in local daily reports and editorials was the expansion of neoliberal governance as a result of regional alienation in the process of reorganizing Korean social capital. The expansion of neoliberal governance reproduced by local daily newspapers is nothing more than a way to survive capital through regional development and securing human resources. Rather, inequality in the region is deeper and wider in this process. Now, the important thing is how the local media will capture regional inequality, one of the various inequalities in Korean society. Local media should consider and come up with a fundamental and true regional reorganization strategy that goes beyond the various policy alternatives and calls that have been put forward against the backdrop of neoliberalism and its governance.
