초고령사회 대비를 위한 노년층의 미디어 이용과 인식에 관한 연구

A Study on Media Use and Perception among the Elderly in Preparation for a Super-Aged Society

초록

The concurrent acceleration of population aging and digitalization has transformed the media ecosystem, creating intergenerational disparities in access and digital literacy. Using Korea Press Foundation’s Survey on Media Use (2010–2023), this study compares traditional media (television, newspapers, radio) and new media (social platforms, portals, online services) use, and examines generational differences in news pathways, information acquisition, and perceptions of credibility and source. By highlighting intra-generational heterogeneity among older adults, we challenge the notion of a homogeneous elderly cohort. Findings reveal that while older adults remain highly reliant on traditional media, they are gradually adopting new media, with significant generational gaps in consumption patterns, acquisition modes, and trust. In particular, younger seniors exhibit a partial shift toward new media. These insights inform strategies to enhance digital inclusion and information access for aging populations.
