The Enterprise and the Dystopia - Corporate Ethics and Business Culture through Volkswagen Group's Dieselgate -

초록

The totalitarian ‘National community’ that Hitler and the Nazi regime consistently advocated played a key role in Volkswagen's establishment. Therefore, it cannot be denied that the totalitarian ambitions of the Nazi regime served as an important backdrop to the birth of the Volkswagen Automobile Company. Alongside this historical background, corporate managers fostered a purpose-driven business culture that prioritized achieving goals by any means necessary. As a result, company members disregarded due process, pursued results at all costs, and cultivated a business culture that cleverly circumvented rules and laws, favoring illegal methods over regulatory compliance. A company formed through an alliance with a totalitarian state fails to overcome its origins, resulting in an event that society criticizes and reprimands. This serves as a historical lesson that should not be forgotten: companies do not lead humanity to utopia but end up in dystopia due to distorted corporate ethics.
