이상화 시에 나타난 헤테로토피아 연구

초록

This study seeks to examine the unique spatial aesthetics created by Lee Sang-hwa amid the tension between reality and the ideal. Accordingly, this study adopts Michel Foucault's concept of heterotopia as its theoretical framework and explores the poet's perception of space, focusing on his representative works "To My Bedroom" and "Does Spring Come to the Stolen Fields?" In particular, the "bedroom" in Lee's poetry has often been interpreted as a romantic or hedonistic site of escapism. However, this study argues that the space instead functions as a poetic arena for critically reflecting on reality and subverting existing order. Likewise, the "fields" are depicted as a space of hope and resistance oriented toward a new communal ideal. These spaces operate as heterotopias in which reality and unreality, interior and exterior, despair and hope intersect, serving as mediating sites through which the poet critiques the colonial reality and envisions the possibility of a new community. Therefore, the spatiality in Lee Sang-hwa's poetry can be understood not merely as an aesthetic device but also as an ideological and aesthetic endeavor within modern Korean literature to bridge the gap between reality and the ideal.
