Adjunct Multiple Nominative Constructions and Form Sequence in Japanese and Korean

This study aims to investigate adjunct MNCs in Japanese and Korean and to provide a uniform approach to them, following Goto and Ishii (2011) in part. In Japanese and Korean, the adjunct MNC has a fixed order among nominatives, forbidding nominatives to scramble. However, the constructions in the two languages are different with regard to coordination and idiom chunks. Considering the analogies and distinctions, I assume that the adjunct MNC uniformly results from Form Sequence (FSQ, Chomsky, 2020, 2021) in both languages, which produces an ordered set of elements. Nonetheless, the differences of both languages result from when the operation FSQ is applied in the adjunct MNC. Two nominatives undergo FSQ before they merge with the predicate in Japanese, but the argument nominative forms a set with the predicate and the set forms a sequence with the adjunct nominative in Korean.
