초록

This paper aims to investigate that early modern English dramas are extended into new forms, examining the phenomenon of digital media appropriation of Jacobean dramas. In particular, this paper deals with a performance of Cheek by Jowl’s ’Tis Pity She’s a Whore in 2012 because the performance can be interpreted in directing and thematically in terms of its digital media remediation. First of all, the performance of the play and the study of the adaptation are mentioned. Next, along with consideration of the characteristics of digital paratexts such as reviews, YouTube, and blogs (archives), various media mediations seen from stage production are structurally interpreted. In particular, this essay will interpret the position and psychology of Anabella in incest as a multi-layered and modern signifier from the perspective of realism, naturalism, and feminism. In conclusion, this paper interprets that the Jacobian drama’s appropriation of digital media allows the audience to newly define and experience the theatricality of values ​​that fit the spirit of the times in the space of digital media.
