초록

This study rigorously analyzes the representation of virtual humans in contemporary digital society, drawing on Jean Baudrillard’s theory of simulation. It explores the increasingly blurred boundaries between the virtual and the real, examining how virtual humans function as independent entities within social and cultural contexts as simulacra. Moreover, this research elucidates the process by which simulacra transcend reality to create hyperreality, and investigates the mechanisms through which virtual humans exert stronger social influence than reality in the digitally converged world of virtual reality and digital media. The analysis confirms that virtual humans, beyond their mere status as virtual images, perform active social roles and are accepted by the public as real, existing entities. This phenomenon offers a new interpretation of the concept of representation in the digital era, serving as a critical indicator of the ongoing dissolution of the boundary between the virtual and the real. Finally, this study discusses the philosophical implications of this boundary’s deconstruction and proposes a new ontological paradigm for the digital age.
