The main characters of Chunxiangzhuan are Chunxiang and Li Menglong, but these two people alone do not complete the narrative composition and artistic achievement of the work. Another conflict in the work is caused and resolved by surrounding characters such as Yuemei, Xiangdan, Fangzi, interest and attractions are added. Among these surrounding figures, it can be said that Chunxiang’s mother, Yuemei, occupies the most important position. Until now, the study of characters in Chunxiangzhuan has been mainly focused on Chunxiang. However, understanding other characters is a necessary premise for understanding the nature of Chunxiangzhuan. Yuemei is the most important person among the surrounding characters in Chunxiangzhuan. In the work, Yuemei is in the closest position to Chunxiang, takes care of Chunxiang, is involved in Chunxiang’s behavior, determines Chunxiang’s status, and reveals Chunxiang’s character more clearly. At the same time, Yuemei performs a unique function in the work as a unique character. Therefore, it can be seen that research on Yuemei is an important premise to understand the nature of Chunxiang and further understand the meaning and function of Chunxiangzhuan. In this study, we will first look at the characters and composition of the work, then look at how the shape of Yuemei is specifically expressed, and then look at how it ultimately evolved.
