바실리 그로스만의 시의적절하지 않은 인간관 : 「베르디체프 시에서」와「개」를 중심으로

초록

This study examines Vasily Grossman’s “untimely” views of humanity, focusing on his early short story In the Town of Berdichev and his later work The Dog. In In the Town of Berdichev, Vavilova is depicted as both a mother and a Bolshevik revolutionary, caught between motherhood and ideological duty. In The Dog, the scientist feels not so much the triumph of a great achievement, but rather a moral responsibility toward the dog that is sacrificed in the process. These characters are far from the idealized heroic figures replicated and disseminated within the Soviet system. Also, Grossman does not try to make real life look better just to support an idea, which makes his view of humanity feel out of step with the times. They are not oriented toward a utopian future but interact with real people in the present, embodying goodness through lived experience. This idea of “goodness” is at the heart of all Grossman’s writing.
