구전 김중청의 청량산 유람과 그 의미 -<유청량산기>를 중심으로-

초록

This study analyzes <Yucheongnyangsangi (遊淸凉山記)> by Gujeon Kim Jung- cheong(1567-1629), examining the significance of his excursion to Mount Cheongnyang. Kim’s journey was a process of retracing the footsteps of Toegye Yi Hwang together with his teacher Wolcheon Jo Mok, thereby commemorating the learning and virtue of his predecessors. The record vividly depicts the teacher-disciple relationship, the transmission of learning, and their personal interactions, making it more than a simple and imbuing it with significant intellectual and historical value. These qualities are concretely manifested in the preface, the dialogues with Wolcheon, the repeated recitation of Shinjae Ju Se-bung’s Yucheongnyangsan-rok, and the recollections of Toegye. There are three noteworthy aspects of Yucheongnyangsan-gi. First, it inherits the excursion tradition from Zhu Xi’s pilgrimage to Mount Heng (Nanyue), through Ju Se-bung’s excursion to, to Toegye Yi Hwang’s winter visitto the same mountain. The evocation of these precedents in the dialogues,and their connection to scholarly practice, demonstrates the strong determination of the Joseon literati to perpetuate the Confucian tradition. s, Kim’s account emphasizesthe teacher’s words, expressions, and dialogues, thereby reinterpreting the excursion as a space for transmitting orthodoxy between master and disciple. This focus marks its originality in comparison withother contemporary records of excursions to Cheongnyangsan. Third, Yucheongnyangsan- gi serves as evidence of Kim’s status as Wolcheon’s successor. The teacher’s admonitions and teachings during the excursion attest to his scholarly recognition, which is closely connected Kim’s later role in honoring Wolcheon after his death and leading the rituals of ancestral enshrinement. In conclusion, Yucheongnyangsan-gi is both a personal record for an excursion and a valuable source illustrating the transmission of orthodoxy from Toegye to Wolcheon and then to Gujeon. It should therefore be regarded as a work that combines the veneration of teachers with the transmission of Neo-Confucian learning. By highlighting these features, this study seeks to illuminate a new type of excursion culture among the Joseon literati and contribute to research on Cheongnyangsan excursion records and the intellectual lineage of the Toegye school.
