韓國古典漢詩中‘嶺南’文學意象初探 (한국 고전한시 중 ‘영남’의 문학적 이미지 초탐)

초록

‘Yeongnam’ is a region in Korea with a long history and distinctive local characteristics. Yeongnam literature constitutes one of the most significant components of Korean literature and has made substantial contributions to the development of Korean culture. Since the emergence of the concept of ‘Yeongnam (Province)’, poets of different eras have held varying perspectives and understandings of the region, thereby shaping diverse literary images. Based on a broad collection and analysis of depictions of ‘Yeongnam’ in Korean classical poetry, this study summarizes four representative literary images: 1. A place of beautiful landscapes. 2. A strategic center where talented figures gather and culture flourishes. 3. A prosperous land rich in economic resources. 4. An emotional harbor embodying affection for one’s hometown, as well as familial and friendly bonds. This paper argues that examining the literary images of ‘Yeongnam’ in Korean classical poetry not only enhances our understanding of Korean regional culture and traditional culture as a whole, but also provides an opportunity to engage with studies of Chinese “Lingnan” culture. Moreover, such research may contribute to opening new horizons for comparative literary studies between Korea and China.
