The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of event centrality on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptomsin firefighters with trauma and to verify the moderating effect of post-traumatic perception. PTSD symptoms resulting fromrepetitive trauma differ based on the type and severity of the trauma, individual event centrality, and post-traumatic perception. First, the results of this study confirmed that event centrality was positively correlated with PTSD symptoms and had asignificant effect. Second, post-traumatic perception was positively correlated with PTSD symptoms. Third, post-traumaticperception controlled the relationship between event centrality and PTSD symptoms; the higher the post-traumatic perception, the weaker the effect of event centrality on PTSD symptoms. Collectively, this study contributes to the current understandingof the cognitive factors affecting PTSD occurrence in firefighters and provides basic data for establishing customizedintervention strategies.
