초록

As IoT (Internet of Things) technology advances, efficient management of embedded system software is becoming important. In particular, utilizing container technology to isolate software in embedded systems can enhance software stability. Among container technologies, Docker offers additional benefits such as high portability, convenient development, and a vast ecosystem. However, applying container technology to memory-constrained embedded systems results in increased memory usage. To address this issue, this paper proposes a shared library-based container architecture. Instead of using conventional Docker images, this approach separates them into a core image and shared libraries. When running a container using a core image, shared libraries are mounted to the container. This method improves memory efficiency by loading shared libraries only when required and enables rapid updates by replacing shared libraries without restarting the running container. As a result, it is particularly useful for resource-limited embedded systems and IoT devices, facilitating fast software replacement and updates. © 2025 IEEE.
