채집 지역과 실험 기주식물에 따른 미국선녀벌레(Metcalfa pruinosa)의 살충제에 대한 약제반응

The citrus flatid planthopper, Metcalfa pruinosa, is a pest native to North America. In Republic of Korea, M. pruinosa damages a wide range of various crops and trees in agricultural areas and forests. Due to this widespread damage, many insecticides have been registered and used against M. pruinosa. Our study examined the responses of different regional populations of M. pruinosa to five insecticides. We used M. pruinosa nymph collected from trees in 18 cities and counties. The efficacy of five insecticides to control M. pruinosa varied by test host tree species and collection region. Cypermethrin and sulfoxaflor demonstrated high efficacy with elevated mortality of M. pruinosa across all the regional tree populations, while flonicamid and pyrifluquinazon induced relatively low pest mortality. Further research is needed to determine whether local populations of M. pruinosa develop insecticide resistance. When treated with the five insecticides to control M. pruinosa, unregistered host plants (Acer palmatum, Euonymus japonicus, Hibiscus syriacus and Rhododendron indicum) revealed varied efficacy responses depending on the tree species, testing region, and insecticide used. Over 90% pest control was observed in all the tree species and regions when treated with cypermethrin and sulfoxaflor. To test insecticide efficacy on forest trees, we recommend registering insecticides on the basis of efficacy evaluations of affected representative trees rather than on the basis of efficacy evaluations of individually affected tree species.
