초록

During the early Cold War, the DPRK strategically aligned itself with the socialist bloc, establishing diplomatic relations with the USSR in October 1948 and opening reciprocal embassies. The DPRK’s embassy in Soviet played a pivotal role in the DPRK's nascent diplomatic development. The Embassy facilitated communication between Pyongyang and diplomatic and nondiplomatic countries in Europe, which contributed to DPRK's international growth and development. And it drew forth the Kremlin's collaboration to enable the socialist bloc to engage in the global arena, thereby enhancing its presence and garnering support. Through this, DPRK was able to establish contact with and identify with the socialist world, thereby positioning itself within the Cold War framework via both its symbolic significance and material activities.
