TOEIC 점수에 따른 정서지능 및 언어학습전략

Emotional Intelligence and Language Learning Strategies Based on TOEIC Proficiency Levels

초록

This study analyzes the relationship between emotional intelligence and language learning strategies across different levels of English proficiency. Learners are classified into three proficiency levels based on TOEIC scores: high (850-990), intermediate (701-849), and low (below 700). Results indicate that in the high proficiency group, emotional intelligence has a comparatively strong correlation with meta-cognitive strategy, particularly between interpersonal relationship and compensation strategy. For intermediate learners, emotional intelligence is most closely correlated with memory strategy, especially concerning overall mood. In the low proficiency group, compensation strategy shows a notable correlation with emotional intelligence, with adaptability closely linked to social strategy. These findings suggest that different strategies may be required based on the learner's English proficiency and emotional intelligence levels. Enhancing emotional intelligence can help tailor language learning strategies more effectively, reducing the affective filter and ultimately fostering greater overall language proficiency.
