메타버스 공간에 적용된 한글 글꼴에 대한 연령별 선호도 연구
초록
Background In the metaverse, textual elements serve as crucial components that shape user experiences, much like in other media. This study aims to propose guidelines for font design in metaverse environments, grounded in the necessity of developing font design research tailored to these spaces, with the ultimate goal of enhancing user experience. Methods This study hypothesized that preferences for Hangul fonts applied in the metaverse would vary by age group, and a survey was conducted to test this assumption. A total of 60 participants were recruited, with 20 individuals each from their teens, twenties, and thirties. The questionnaire consisted of 19 items, included five linked font stimuli, and required responses to open-ended descriptive questions. Result The survey results showed that teenagers exhibited no significant differences in font preference, whereas participants in their twenties and thirties demonstrated a significantly higher preference for Hangilche. Analysis of participants’ subjective responses regarding Hangilche, the most preferred font, revealed two categories of perspectives: relational opinions concerning the interaction between the font and its surrounding environment, and morphological opinions focusing on the font itself. Conclusion The design of metaverse environments requires a prior understanding of both the interactive characteristics of the space and the morphological features of Hangul fonts. This study offers foundational insights that serve as practical reference material for establishing Hangul font design guidelines aimed at fostering user immersion in metaverse environments.
