디지털 환경에서 나타난 영어와 한국어의 신조어에 대한 형태·음운론적 분석

A comparative study of the morphological and phonological simplification of neologisms in English and Korean in digital environments

초록

This study examines phonological simplification patterns in English and Korean neologisms in digital environments. Based on the analysis of 200 neologisms, Korean predominantly employs initial consonant abbreviations and syllable reduction due to the syllable-block structure of Korean, whereas English primarily uses clippings and initialisms, reflecting its hierarchical syllable structure. These abbreviation processes involve language-specific phonological changes. English uses vowel elision and stress reassignment to maintain rhythmic stability, while Korean employs vowel deletion and syllable restructuring to reduce articulatory effort. Both languages optimize linguistic economy through complementary morphological and phonological strategies while preserving communicative efficiency. The results show that digital neologisms follow systematic linguistic principles rather than arbitrary reduction, offering practical contributions to language education and natural language processing applications.
