BERTopic을 활용한 한국행정학보와 한국행정논집의 연구 주제 비교

초록

This study employs BERTopic, a topic modeling technique, to compare and analyze research trends in the field of Korean public administration. After classifying research articles from the Korean Public Administration Review and the Korean Journal of Public Administration, topic names were analyzed based on key topic words and cosine similarity, which identifies their semantic similarities. As a result, nine common topics were found in both journals. Unlike traditional normative classifications, the actual research areas were categorized into more specific subtopics. Notably, the Korean Journal of Public Administration contained research areas with a national perspective, while the Korean Journal of Public Policy focused on topics closely related to local issues. The cosine similarity analysis supported these findings, as common topics exhibited high similarity, whereas unique topics showed low similarity. This study is among the first to apply the BERTopic technique to public administration research and is distinctive in its use of cosine similarity to enhance objectivity.
