Enhancing Satisfaction of British Students with Experiential Programs and Impressions of Korea during Study Trips

초록

This study aims to investigate how to enhance the satisfaction of UK students with the experiential program during international study trips to South Korea, and to suggest fundamentals of program design for future study trips. For this purpose, questionnaire surveys on the satisfaction with two study trips of UK students to South Korea as well as their images of Korea were analyzed. The experiential program of each trip consisted of various activities considering the balance of industry & technology, culture & history, sightseeing and partnership development. The survey findings show that students preferred active learning and interactions with local Koreans to passive learning where knowledge flows unilaterally. Also, activities demonstrating the combination of traditions and cutting-edge technologies were highly appraised by the students. Identified main keywords of Korea were ‘people’, ‘history & culture’ and ‘technology’. The findings will have implications for future organizers of study trips to Korea as well as the inbound travel industry in Korea by providing highly satisfying activities by business-focused foreign visitors and the reasons behind the satisfaction.
