초록
Due to learning gaps among students following the COVID-19 pandemic, securing basic academic ability is now a crucial educational goal. This study used qualitative interviews with five Korean language teachers to explore how they are adapting their curricula to address this issue and proposed future policy directions. The interview results revealed that students lacking basic academic ability in Korean language showed deficiencies in literacy, vocabulary, grammar, and writing. To ensure the ability, teachers modified contents or activities to match student levels, applied student-centered teaching, and used various educational tools. Future policy should consider: customized instruction for struggling students, ways to boost student motivation and self-esteem, creating teacher communities and sharing platforms, providing systematic training for teachers, and reducing class sizes and teacher workload. Through these enhancements and mutual efforts, this issue can be resolved.
