The Yuan opera Shennuer神奴兒 is written by an anonymous author in the late Yuan and early Ming periods. This opera is a problematic work that reflects the reality of Yuan society through the serious topics of domestic violence, child abuse, and kin murder. This opera is an investigative drama that uncovers the real culprit of the murder of Shennuer, It is also a ghost drama in that Shennuer becomes a ghost after death and takes revenge. It is also a family drama that exposes problems in the family, and it is also a social drama that shows the problems of the society at the time because the family is the most fundamental foundation of society. This opera has such a diverse spectrum that it can be said to be a work that has the potential for various approaches and interpretations. This opera shows the problems of loss of humanity and family rift through a death incident and a family murder incident that occurred in a single family, so it is considered an appropriate tool for examining the reality of Yuan Dynasty society, and it can be said that in-depth research is necessary. The main motive for crime shown in this opera is to acquire more property, and the triggers that significantly influence this crime can be summarized as alcohol and silk. This paper analyzed the work through two motifs, alcohol and silk, and examined the social aspects of the Yuan Dynasty.
