Despite its short history, the results of the research on Hatha Yoga achieved in the last 20 years, especially in terms of academic achievements such as excavating and translating Sanskrit texts and producing doctoral-level researchers, can be said to be substantive compared to the rest of the field of Indology. The Hatha Yoga Project (http://hyp.soas.ac.uk: 2015-2020, HYP), led by James Mallinson and Jason Burch and supported by the European Research Council (ERC) from 2015 to 2020, has helped propel Hatha Yoga research to the forefront. This project has contributed to the recognition of Hatha Yoga as a future field of Indology by producing works based on philological research. This project has further published Sanskrit texts such as Amṛtasiddhi, Yogaśāstra, Amaraughaprabodha and numerous other papers. It can be greatly lauded for broadening the horizon of humanities through criticism and discussion with other related disciplines such as Pātañjalayoga, Śaiva and Tantrism. However, this situation is little recognised in Korea and the latest achievements are shared by only a small number of scholars, despite exciting changes in academic trends in European academia.
