초록
This study analyzes dialect narrative data of the Gyeongju dialect, collected as part of the 2020s Language Variation Survey by Generation & Gender on Korean Dialects. It aims to catalog fossilized words with intervocalic consonant insertions of ‘-g-’, ‘-b-’, and ‘-z-’ used in the Gyeongju dialect community and to describe usage patterns by generation. First, a total of 29 lexical types of intervocalic consonant-inserted forms were identified in the dialect narrative data. A quantitative analysis of realization frequency revealed that out of a total of 463 tokens of the target vocabulary examined, fossil forms accounted for 142 tokens, representing a realization rate of approximately 30.7%. A common tendency was observed across all categories where the frequency of fossil forms decreased in younger generations; notably, fossil forms were rarely used among speakers in their 20s. These findings are interpreted as suggesting an apparent-time trend that the fossilized vocabulary with intervocalic consonant insertion has effectively entered the process of obsolescence in the contemporary Gyeongju dialect of the 2020s.
