This study aimed to explore the trajectories and predictors of maternal depression before and after childbirth using the Latent Growth Curve Modeling(LGCM) with data from the Korean Early Childhood Education and Care Panel (K-ECEC-P). The trajectory of maternal depression showed an initial increase followed by stabilization, and higher initial levels of depression predicted steeper increases. Analyses revealed that self-esteem, prenatal stress, and marital conflict were significantly associated only with the initial level of depression, while employment status and work type were not significant predictors. This study contributes by statistically examining changes in maternal depression among millennial mothers who gave birth in 2022, and by identifying individual, familial, and social-environmental factors to derive policy and practice implications. The findings underscore the need to develop and implement tailored parenting education and counseling programs that enhance self-esteem and alleviate prenatal stress and marital conflict, and highlight the importance of an integrated approach providing comprehensive family support from early pregnancy through the postpartum period.
