경주 황오동34호분 3곽 금동관의 제작공정 복원

초록

In 1965, one gilt-bronze crown was excavated from Hwang-O-dong No.34 tomb in Gyeongju. In this paper, the restoration process of this gilt-bronze crown was described. Particularly, the research was conducted with a focus on keywords such as artisans, tools, actions, and experiments. By observing the traces of process that remained minutely on the surface of the gilt-bronze tube and verifying the actions of the tools and artisans at the time through restoration experiments, the article intended to approach Silla’s gilt-working technology. The significance of t his a rticle i s t hat i t suggested the possibility of one of the various Silla gold techniques through several experiments. In addition, the fact that the restoration process was presented comprehensively in detail with photographic record, is different from other restoration studies. It is expected that experimental archaeology will be stimulated in Korean domestic archaeological community in the future.
