이태원 참사 이후 소방 대응과 국민 인식 변화: 언론 기사와 유튜브 댓글 비교 연구

초록

This study examines the Itaewon disaster of October 29, 2022, focusing on the differences between media coverage and public perceptions of firefighting responses. Data were collected from Naver News articles and YouTube comments, and analyzed using text-mining techniques such as word clouds, TF-IDF, n-gram analysis, LDA topic modeling, and sentiment analysis. The results indicate that news discourse evolved from initial responsibility disputes to commemorative narratives and legislative reforms. In contrast, YouTube discourse was dominated by anger and distrust immediately after the disaster. Although expressions of respect and mourning emerged over time, negative and emotional expressions remained prevalent. These findings highlight a persistent gap between institutional discourse emphasizing stability and reform and citizen discourse grounded in distrust and emotions. The study concludes that disaster-response policies must combine institutional improvements with communication strategies to restore public trust.
