정치와 사회로, 그리고 유럽중심주의를 넘어 －신정치경제와 자본주의 역사－

초록

This paper examines the divergence of economic history into cultural history and cliometrics in the twentieth century. It introduces new approaches to the New Political Economy and the History of Capitalism. The cliometrics, which posits a specific understanding of human behaviour from the assumptions of neoclassical economics, contributed to the field by challenging the conventional notions with its rigorous statistical analysis. However, galvanised by the crisis of neoclassical economics, new approaches have sought to re-politicise and re-socialise the economy. First, the New Political Economy contextualises the market economy within the contemporary political culture to move beyond economism. Second, the History of Capitalism, which sheds light on the way in which non-economic factors were closely connected to the economic, seeks to overcome the Eurocentric assumption in the cliometrics with the contribution of the Global South in the making of the global capitalist system. These efforts aim to re-embed the economy.
