Bimetallic oxide nanocomposites have emerged as promising candidates for anticancer applications due to their unique physicochemical properties, including high surface area, structural tunability, and well-organized structures, making them highly suitable for drug delivery systems. In this study, we present the green synthesis of bimetallic zinc oxide/magnesium oxide nanocomposites (ZnO/MgO-NCs) using the aqueous extracts of seaweed Turbinaria conoides as the reducing agent. The synthesized ZnO/MgO-NCs were comprehensively characterized at room temperature using UV-visible spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX), and Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. FT-IR spectra confirmed the presence of diverse functional groups associated with the nanocomposite, while the elemental analysis revealed characteristic peaks of zinc and oxygen, along with a minor signal corresponding to magnesium. Biological evaluations demonstrated the cytotoxicity potential of ZnO/MgONCs against U87 glioblastoma cells and their antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. These findings highlight the potential of ZnO/MgO-NCs as multifunctional nanomaterials for future applications in anticancer drug delivery and antimicrobial therapy.
