학령 초기 아동의 전반적 행복감이 학령 후기 미디어 기기 중독에 미치는 종단적 영향: 학령 초기 학교적응의 매개효과

초록

This study examined the longitudinal relationships among general happiness, school adjustment, and problematic media device use, with particular attention to the mediating role of school adjustment. Data were drawn from the Panel Study on Korean Children(PSKC), spanning Waves 8 through 13, which correspond to grades 1 through 6 of elementary school. A multivariate latent growth mediation model was employed.. Results indicated that both the initial levels and rates of change in general happiness during early elementary school significantly predicted the corresponding levels and trajectories of school adjustment. In turn, school adjustment significantly and negatively predicted the initial levels and trajectories of problematic media device use in later elementary school. These findings suggest that general happiness and school adjustment serve as longitudinal protective factors against problematic media device use, with school adjustment functioning as a key mediator. Importantly, children in later elementary school(ages 10–12) are considered to be in early adolescence. Therefore, this study study provides foundational evidence for early intervention and counseling strategies aimed at preventing problematic media use during adolescence, offering practical implications for youth counseling practice.
