초록

This article aims to compare Vladimir Solovyov’s conception of Eros with that of Plato. Solovyov extensively engaged with Platonic philosophy, and his works The Meaning of Love and The Life Drama of Plato are deeply rooted in Plato’s philosophy of love, particularly the concept of Eros. However, despite this significant influence, notable differences exist between their perspectives. This study first examines Plato’s notion of Eros as articulated in Symposium and Phaedrus. It then explores the aspects of Plato’s theory that Solovyov adopted, as well as the points at which he diverged or offered critique. Finally, we seek to identify the underlying reasons for the ultimate divergence in their respective interpretations of Eros.
