This study examines the correspondence of Changseok Lee Jun (蒼石 李埈, 1560~1635), a Confucian scholar and government official of mid-Joseon Korea, in order to analyze the scope and significance of his intellectual and social relationships. Born in Sangju, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Lee Jun studied under Seoae Ryu Seong-ryong(柳成龍) and actively participated in the restoration of scholarship, politics, and local communities during and after the Imjin War. His collected letters, found in 『Changseokjip(蒼石集)』 and 『Changseoksokjip(蒼石續集)』, number approximately 300 in total. Due to the extensive volume, this study focuses primarily on the 180 letters included in 『Changseokjip』, while 『Changseoksokjip』 is referenced selectively to supplement the analysis. Lee Jun's letters transcend simple exchanges of greetings and convey a wide range of layered content including scholarly discourse, political opinions, responses to contemporary realities, and expressions of personal emotion. Although previous studies have largely focused on his correspondence with prominent figures such as his teacher Ryu Seong-ryong and his close friend Jeong Gyeong-se(鄭經世), comprehensive and systematic analysis of his entire epistolary corpus has remained limited. This research thus investigates the individuals Lee Jun communicated with, the circumstances under which these relationships were formed, and how they were sustained over time. By analyzing the various levels of content in his letters-scholarly debate, political judgment, family relationships, and expectations for disciples-the study clarifies how Lee Jun interacted with others and constructed intellectual bonds. His correspondence is categorized and examined according to four major relational types: exchanges with teachers and scholarly peers; communication with writers and officials across factional lines; transmission of values to the next generation; and local community engagement through seowon and familial moral instruction. Ultimately, this study demonstrates that Lee Jun's letters functioned as more than private communication-they served as effective vehicles for scholarly exchange and social relationship building. His epistolary legacy, which extended into the next generation, exemplifies the enduring nature of Confucian networks and intellectual continuity within Joseon society. His correspondence provides valuable insight into the cultural mechanisms through which Joseon literati maintained interpersonal solidarity and ideological dialogue across time, space, and generational boundaries.
