Object FNQs in Korean

초록

This paper shows that quantifiers left by objects cannot be floated in Θ-positions in Korean. This finding is in compliance with Bošković (2004). In the course of verifying this phenomenon in Korean, the paper also presents a novel analysis that objects in this language move out of VP, where they are generated, and travel through VP-adjoined positions. This analysis, a so-called short object shift, will be shown to have numerous consequences not only in the Korean language but other languages as well.
