Preliminary Checklist of Ground Beetles from Jindo Island, South Korea (Coleoptera: Carabidae)

There are numerous islands on the Korean Peninsula, but there is little knowledge about their carabid beetle fauna. In this study, we present a preliminary checklist for carabids of Jindo Island by reviewing historical records and examining collected samples during the surveys conducted on 21 Jun 2021 and 10-12 Jul 2024 at four sites. Our survey revealed 35 carabid species, of which 22 species were recognized to be newly recorded from Jindo Island. As a result, 52 species under 15 tribes within 5 subfamilies are now recognized to occur in Jindo Island. This study serves as a foundational step for the survey of the carabid fauna of Jindo Island.
