「신라 수창군 호국성 팔각등루기(新羅壽昌郡護國城八角燈樓記)」의 ‘호국성’과 ‘팔각등루’의 위치에 대한 신고찰

초록

The purpose of this article is to newly determine the location of ‘Hogukseong’ and ‘Palgakdeungru’ in the 「Deungrugi」 written by Choi-Chiwon. To this end, the existing views were critically reviewed, and 「Deungrugi」 was examined from a new angle. Based on this, the results of newly determine the location of the ‘Hogukseong’ and the ‘Palgakdeungru’ are as follows. First, by reexamining 「Deungrugi」, it was confirmed that it is necessary to understand the determining the location of ‘Hogukseong’ and ‘Palgakdeungru’ and their characteristics. ① ‘Hogukseong’ is estimated to be a small-scale fortress. ② The scenery of ‘Hogukseong’ in 「Deungrugi」 was not the actual view on the ‘Hogukseong’, but borrowed a phrase from a Chinese writer's work by Choi-Chiwon. Therefore, this description cannot be a basis for determining the location of ‘Hogukseong’. ③ Azimuth records for nearby place names in 「Deungrugi」 are accurate and highly reliable data. This should be actively used to determine the location of ‘Hogukseong’ and ‘Palgakdeungru’. ④ It should be noted that the ‘Hogukseong’ and the ‘Palgakdeungru’ were built in 898 and 908. This is because it is a decisive criterion for confirming the location of ‘Hogukseong’ and ‘Palgakdeungru’ in archaeological investigations. Second, the location of the ‘Hogukseong’ is determined by the maintenance of the old earthen fortress in Daegu-eupchi, which has not been known so far. In the process of constructing the stone wall Daegu-Eupseong in the first half of the 18th century, this fortress became known after the rediscovery of the ruined walls in the north and east of the stone wall Daegu-Eupseong. It is presumed to be a small-scale earthen wall that combines the northeast area inside Daegu Eupseong and the outside area to the north and east. Third, ‘Namryeong’ of ‘Hogukseong’, where the ‘Palgakdeungru’ was built, is identified as Mt. Yeongu, which was Jinsan(鎭山) to protect Daegu-eupchi in the Choseon Dynasty. This is because there is a story that stone turtles were buried on this mountain to protect the defect of Daegu-eupchi from early on, and it seems to be the most suitable place to build a ‘Palgakdeungru’ to protect the ‘Hogukseong’.
