초록

Oh Yeon-chong(吳延寵) passed the state examination during the reign of King Sukjong(肅宗) and entered the relationship. He was dispatched to Liao(遼) and Song dynasty(宋) in the early years of King Sukjong’s reign to carry out diplomatic missions. As a result of these diplomatic achievements, he was appointed as a member of the central government and governed the people as a non-official Jeonju minister by King Sukjong, who viewed Oh Yeon-chong as the prime minister’s material. Accordingly, he received the highest grade and was appointed to the important post, Jwa Seung-seon Jiosa Daesa Hyeongbu Sirang, and assisted King Sukjong. Then, together with Yun Gwan(尹瓘), he led the conquest of Yeojin(女眞征伐), which was promoted in the late years of King Sukjong(肅宗). However, as can be seem from the fact that Oh Yeon-chong refuted the unreasonably promoted Yongeon Palace(龍堰宮), he pursued the stability and practical interests of the people first. Because it was such Oh Yeon-chong, it was negative for the Jurchen conquest. However, at the beginning of King Yejong(睿宗)’s, when King Sukjong’s techings hidden in fire were revealed, he carefully participated in the conquest of Yeojin, thinking of his loyalty to Sukjong, who loved him, but as a result, nine castle(九城) were returned to Yeojin. Afterwards, Oh Yeon-chong was appointed to the meritorious trust twice as a national elder, and Yejong was trusted enough to consult with the national ambassador. Oh Yeon-chong played a supporting role in the period of internal and external confusion at the end of the 11th century with such diplomatic insight and competence in both literature and martial(文·武兼全) arts.
