초록
This study examines the phonological correspondences between Modern Sino-Korean and Modern Standard Chinese to support Chinese-speaking learners in more accurately inferring and retaining the pronunciations of Sino-Korean words. To this end, five phonological units were analyzed: syllable, onset (initial consonant), nucleus (medial vowel), coda (final consonant), and rime (nucleus + coda). Based on frequency and consistency, three strategic types—primary, general, and supplementary—were identified. Results suggest that high-frequency and highly consistent correspondences, such as “ㅇ–ng” and “ㄴ–n,” can facilitate intuitive learning and long-term retention, whereas low-consistency patterns require caution due to the risk of overgeneralization, which are suggested for supplementary learning strategies such as initial learning aids or error correction material. By presenting a quantitative analysis grounded in empirical data, this study minimizes the likelihood of learner errors from unguided inference and offers a clear, evidence-based framework for strategic pronunciation learning. The findings provide a practical foundation for developing targeted instructional materials and enhancing vocabulary acquisition among Chinese learners of Korean.
