초록

In this study, while understanding the background of the emergence of the Hannover-Herrenhausen Baroque Garden, we examine the musical culture of the nobility created in the Hannover-Herrenhausen Garden, which was based on the acceptance of the Court Garden of Versailles in France, from a socio-cultural perspective, and try to shed light on the new meaning of the beginning of the musical culture that emerged in the Baroque German Garden from a socio- cultural background that has not been mentioned in the history of Baroque music. Elector Ernst August, who loved the Italian carnival held in the garden, and Electress Sophie, who was particularly interested in music, literature and gardening, built a magnificent open-air theater and the palace’s opera house in the Hannover-Herrenhausen Garden and hired famous Italian singers and French instrumentalists to create a music culture of the Hannover-Herrenhausen Garden, a fusion of Italian vocal and French instrumental styles, under the musical direction of Stefani. In addition, the Hanover-Herenhausen garden style and its associated musical culture spread throughout Germany through marriage policies and political expansion, influencing contemporary composers and bringing ‘diversity’ to Baroque German music.
