초록

The purpose of this study is to explore the possibility of connection with university liberal arts speaking education and to propose specific educational contents and methods to cultivate global citizenship required of university students who will grow as responsible subjects of future society. To this end, the concept and educational meaning of global citizenship were considered in connection with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and a teaching and learning direction was derived to realize this in speaking education. In particular, focusing on the case of the liberal arts speaking subject at University A, a class aimed at cultivating global citizenship was designed, and the actual class execution process was presented. The learners who participated in the class reinterpreted and composed the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their own language based on their respective values and problem consciousness, and through this, the depth and delivery of the speaking content were simultaneously secured. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that the subject-centered speaking activity can effectively contribute to recognizing the problems to have as a global citizen and cultivating the will to practice accordingly, beyond simply enhancing expression ability.
