초록
Workplace deviant behavior (WDB) has gained the interest of many scholars due to its tremendous costs and negative consequences for organizations. Recent research demonstrates that WDB could have more diverse consequences, such as reparative effects. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between WDB and reparative behaviors - organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). Specifically, it investigates that employees with a high level of moral identity feel motivated to engage in OCB following their WDB enactment. SPSS statistical tool was used for regression analysis. The sample data from 220 employees working for various organizations suggest that people with higher moral identity are less likely to perform deviance at work and more likely to remedy their wrongdoings by conducting OCB. Drawing from the within-person approach, the current study contributes to the literature of WDB by providing evidence that organizational members can engage in actions that damage and behaviors that support the company. Research suggests that instead of focusing on severe punishment of deviant acts in an organization, managers need to develop a proper system that will allow individuals to understand the outcomes of their deviant acts and engage in reparative behavior.
