Class IV flextensional transducers, which have been primarily employed for transmission, exhibit high sensitivity characteristics when utilised as hydrophones, attributable to the substantial mechanical amplification effect and the reciprocity of the piezoelectric effect. The present study has been conducted with the objective of developing a class IV flextensional hydrophone that possesses both high sensitivity and a wide bandwidth in the low frequency range. The influence of structural variables on the acoustic performance was evaluated through finite element analysis, with the receiving voltage sensitivity and fractional bandwidth established as the primary performance indicators. Subsequently, regression analysis and optimization algorithms were employed to derive the optimal structure. The final model exhibited a 21 %p increase in bandwidth while maintaining the same receive voltage sensitivity in the low frequency range compared to the basic model.
