초록

Objectives: To identify key factors influencing family consent to brain‑dead organ donation and develop tailored interview strategies to enhance con‑ sent rates. Methods: From January to December 2022, data from 611 potential brain dead donors reported to the Korea Organ Donation Agency (KODA) who underwent family interviews were analyzed. Chi‑square tests assessed associations between consent status and variables including donor general, medical, healthcare environment, and surveillance process Characteristics. Predictors were further evaluated using logistic regression. Results: Signifi‑ cant differences in consent rates were observed based on age group (p =0.005), marital status (p =0.005), consciousness level (p =0.001), hospital size (p =0.019), department specialization (p =0.001), notification approach (p =0.036), early confirmation of family donation opinion (p <0.001), and num‑ ber of interviews (p <0.001). Higher consent likelihood was associated with donors aged 20–59, unmarried status, coma state, treatment in hospitals with fewer than 599 beds, departments outside neurosurgery, early familial opinion confirmation, and conducting more than two interviews. Conclu- sions: Implementing interview strategies tailored to general, medical, healthcare environment, and surveillance process factors may effectively increase family consent rates for brain‑dead organ donation.
