초록

The surface material of a playing field is a factor that directly affects player performance. This study surveyed high school and college soccer players to determine their preferences for different surface materials on the playing field and their awareness of each material. All respondents had experience using artificial turf fields, and the fields they used most often were artificial turf fields. Overall, satisfaction with artificial turf fields was positively evaluated at 47.4%, and the highest proportion of reasons for dissatisfaction was the high risk of injury. Minimizing the risk of injury is the most important factor in soccer, followed by performance and comfort. Natural turf was perceived as the best regarding environmental friendliness, low risk of injury, and improved athletic performance, whereas artificial turf was preferred for psychological stability. On the other hand, soil playgrounds were perceived as the most negative playground covering material across all categories. Although natural turf is the most preferred field covering material owing to its low risk of injury and ability to improve performance, considering its limited use of natural turf fields, there is a need to expand the number of natural turf fields that can be used by high school and college soccer players.
