초록

This paper examines the current status of Chinese poems and the author's emotions and perceptions expressed within them, focusing on those recorded or cited in Record of Travels to Cheongnyangsan. In the Record of Travels to Cheongnyangsan, the author's own poems are far more numerous than those by others. The fact that the Chinese poems are primarily self-composed suggests that they were much easier to use for expressing immediate feelings during the journey. While most of the author's own poems are included in their entirety, only a few selective lines are quoted from others' poems. Among the Chinese poems, authors other than the original writer are mostly poets from the Tang and Song dynasties or literati scholars from the Joseon Dynasty. Their poems are generally cited evenly, typically once or twice. However, the frequent citation of Zhu Xi's and Toegye's poems is closely related to Zhu Xi's travels to Namak, and Toegye's travels to Cheongnyangsan. The author's emotions and perceptions as presented in the Record of Travels to Cheongnyangsan were examined in three aspects: experiencing scenic beauty and its delight, recognizing the essence of the way, and reminiscing about historical figures. The Chinese poems in the Record of Travels to Cheongnyangsan reveal the author's delight derived from experiencing scenic beauty. First, the splendid scenery of Cheongnyangsan is vividly depicted. This realistic depiction of the scenery led to admiration, during which various emotions such as tranquility, leisure, excitement, and fondness were colorfully expressed. The Chinese poems in the Record of Travels to Cheongnyangsan contain the author's recognition of the Way. The author's awareness of moving toward an elevated state is revealed through expressions of moving beyond vulgarity and clumsiness after experiencing the scenic beauty, or by likening travels to reading, all in an attempt to explore the essence of the Way. The Chinese poems in the Record of Travels to Cheongnyangsan express emotions of reminiscence for historical figures. The author's feelings of commemoration and admiration are evident through the citation of poems by figures who left their mark on historical sites, or by recalling their related deeds.
